Twenty two years after graduating from the high school in Paccha that Fundación Comunidad started, we were tickled to get an update from some of our initial scholarship students from 2010. During the past two years, Comunidad has been assisting the community of Chaquipampa with their vegetable gardens and bakery goals. Mid 2022 we sent them proofing racks and other baking supplies to help them take the baking to an official vocational level, it’s now a class! We’ve been told their bread is extraordinary!
The ‘school’ year is coming to a close in the rural communities we support. Getting 8 computers and a hot spot to Patahuasi was the best thing we could do during a pandemic. They have lost alot of learning opportunities but the computers helped make some of that up and created some excitement during these challenging times. We are committed to see them through the 2022 school year as well as pursuing two vocational projects for post secondary life. One project involves baking...
Comunidad has remained committed to the students in rural Ayacucho who lost a whole year of class. As we were slowly moving towards stepping out of Peru and hoping to focus on looming issues in this country, the timing for that would have undone so much progress we were able to contribute to over the past two decades, especially in the community of Patawasi. The school year in the Andes should have started mid March. It’s now eary Sept...they will have lost the academic year of 2020 by the time Dec comes. Having just spent time with many of the students last Nov, there was a-lot of excitement for their upcoming year. I was able to travel to the remote villages with a group of 12 board members and family. We took ideas and suggestions home to address a plan to improve some hygiene, nutrition & education issues for 2020.At this point...
