A unique comunidad visit

Posted December 20, 2019 @ 6:15pm | by Comunidad

A unique comunidad visitSince 1999, most of the Ebertz family has been involved with the Comunidad projects, in some fashion. Perhaps only as indirect donors being children of my siblings, or as in the case with my nephew Vince, it was his first non-profit donation he ever made at the young age of 18, he had inherited $1000 from a relative and turned around and donated half of it. It was time for them to have a personal connection with the community members while we could, the stars...

2019 School Year Progress

Posted June 30, 2019 @ 7:29pm | by Comunidad

Due to the very generous donation of a wonderful couple of friends from a past Peru trip, Comunidad’s 2019 school year is covered until the end of the school year Dec 20, 2019. This means over 300 healthy daily lunches, hygiene services and a new bathroom, improved and well lit classrooms and a robust library. Making a difference in the Andean region of Ayacucho, one student at a time!

Winding up the 2018 school year

Posted November 23, 2018 @ 7:06pm | by Comunidad

I always feel so grateful to have the opportunity to spend time in a few of the communities we’ve worked in. Over Thanksgiving, it was Patahuasi and Corozón de Ñaupaus. These two hamlets, high up in the Andes, have alot to be proud of. Patahuasi has it’s first high school graduating class of 8. First time ever! We were able to upgrade their classrooms this year, add a library, and provide a hearty lunch. I saw a big difference in their energy level...

Patawasi Progress

Posted June 19, 2018 @ 12:29pm | by Comunidad

Patawasi ProgressAt the end of the year we posted about a family who traveled to Peru with ArtAndes three years ago, and the fact that they had generously set up a fund in Comunidad’s name with the request “to ask that whatever is decided is sustainable or jump starts an initiative that has that capability”.We were able to focus on the rural and impoverished area of Patawasi. A community that did not appear to be on the governments radar for any education improvements that were...

Forging Ahead - Consider a Donation Before Year-End

Posted December 27, 2017 @ 3:34pm | by Comunidad

In our last post we mentioned we were winding down our work, but instead we’re forging ahead, in supporting our Peruvian communities where it makes most sense. The trip to the communities were made in November, and while we were saddened with the education level in Patatwasi and other issues there, our remaining bank balance had been invested in the construction of a new bathroom. We had not planned to take on anything more than the continuation of the scholarship students. Then a...

Happy Holidays from Comunidad

Posted November 28, 2017 @ 7:14pm | by Comunidad

Happy Holidays,A USAID operative in Lima, Peru, told Comunidad not long ago that we’ve made more of an impact at a grassroots level relatively speaking, than the US government could accomplish in the Comunidad communities, mired in all its red tape and bureaucracy. This is because of all of you.As a valued Comunidad friend and donor, we wanted to provide you with an end of year update. As you may recall, we’ve been winding down support of our projects in Peru....
