Catching up on education

Posted April 16, 2022 @ 6:03am | by Comunidad

The 2022 school year started in mid March, and it’s mostly in person with much anticipation. We are always thrilled to see how many females there are attending the schools in the areas we work. The nutritious lunch program covers aprox 250 students, offering a very hearty and complete daily meal. Late 2021 we were able to get nine desk tops to Patahuasi, they are getting good use. We are still providing a computer tutor for this year to help them reclaim the loss of school during the...

Holiday celebration in the Andes

Posted December 21, 2021 @ 5:35am | by Comunidad

Holiday celebration in the AndesIt was a much anticipated Holiday celebration in our communities of Chaquipampa, Andabamba & Patahuasi. Due to the pandemic and the rural hamlets taking extreme caution, Humberto & Mey Valdivia were unable to make the journey last December. They did send presents and other donated requested goods however, and thankfully this year the trip was possible. The Computer start up

Posted December 7, 2021 @ 3:00am | by Comunidad

The Computer start upThe ‘school’ year is coming to a close in the rural communities we support. Getting 8 computers and a hot spot to Patahuasi was the best thing we could do during a pandemic. Covid shut done education entirely in this area. We are making up for a lost year with the purchase of 7 used quality desk...

The school year has started

Posted March 24, 2021 @ 7:59am | by Comunidad

Mid March is the start of the 2021 school year. As last year didn’t happen at all for many of our rural students, we are hopeful that this year will be productive. The communities in the Ayacucho district started with virtual classes until mid April when they will start 3 days a week in person class. Fundacion Comunidad’s role is extremely important as we continue our focus on providing nutritional lunches. A hearty and tasty lunch is another reason to make the long trek to class,...

The Non School Year of Covid

Posted September 3, 2020 @ 5:42pm | by Comunidad

The Non School Year of CovidThe school year in the Andes should have started mid March. It’s now eary Sept...they will have lost the academic year of 2020 by the time Dec comes. Having just spent time with many of the students last Nov, there was a-lot of excitement for their upcoming year. I was able to travel to the remote villages with a group of 12 board members and family. We took ideas and suggestions home to address a plan to improve some hygiene, nutrition & education issues for 2020.At this point...
