Nutrition Program
Children cannot learn if they are hungry. A government study in 2005 showed that the overwhelming majority of the children in the region are malnourished. In 2007, Comunidad began an ambitious program to feed our students so they would be ready to learn. We fed a nutritious meal to 370 students that needed it; through 2015. There is a health chart kept on every pre-school student. The records show there has been a notable increase in their growing rate since we started. Aside from what the health records show, we can ask any primary school teacher if they note a difference between students arriving who have not attended pre-school vs those who have " It makes all the difference" The start of 2016 school year, as we progress to the point of having the Ayacucho Dept. of Education assume responsibility, we anticipate serving 100 meals a day.
Twenty two years after graduating from the high school in Paccha that Fundación Comunidad started, we were tickled to get an update from some of our initial scholarship students from 2010.
