In our last post we mentioned we were winding down our work, but instead we’re forging ahead, in supporting our Peruvian communities where it makes most sense.

The trip to the communities were made in November, and while we were saddened with the education level in Patatwasi and other issues there, our remaining bank balance had been invested in the construction of a new bathroom. We had not planned to take on anything more than the continuation of the scholarship students.

Then a family who traveled to Peru with ArtAndes three years ago, called to report they had set up a fund in Comunidad’s name with the request “to ask that whatever is decided is sustainable or jump starts an initiative that has that capability”.

The fund is substantial and has indeed jump started us back into planning some significant projects. We will continue to serve the needs of the Andean students in the Ayacucho department, in honor of the the generosity and wishes of our  kind donors.
