Secondary School
In 2002, Comunidad formed a secondary school in Paccha. The school started with 40 students, grew to 170 in one year. In 2006, the government finally acknowledged the significance of the school and took over paying the teachers salaries , as well as hiring an administrator. Currently it has approximately 90 students, as two other high schools have been opened in the Paccha Valley since then. Prior to its inception, education beyond 6th grade was only accessible by walking two hours one-way to Vinchos, or moving to a big city. The importance of Paccha’s secondary school not only provides education, but also allows families to stay together and stay in the area. The success of this school brought attention to the need for more schools, and now there are three in the valley! At the start of 2016 school year, the Ayaucho Department of Education has assumed responsibility foe these schools.
Comunidad's current focus with secondary school is providing text books while being open to extra education or nutrition needs that come up.
